    Default cutting batting and flannel

    How do you avoid this when cutting batting and flannel? Is it time for a new mat? I can get it off with scrubbing, just wondering if a better way to cut batting. Thanks Ladies.

    I think I read on FB that someone laid a piece of parchment paper on their mat first and it kept the batting out of the cutting grooves. I've not tried it. I have a worn out mat that I use when cutting batting.

    I use baby wipes to help move fluff like this from my mat.

    I use an adobe pad to wipe my cutting board clean. You could possibly turn the mat over and use the other side.

    I sometimes just use the unmarked back of my cutting mat just in case. Also, I've used a dry sponge sometimes.

    I cut batt and flannel on the back of my mat. For quick clean up, the edge of my rotary ruler does a pretty good job removing debris from my mat.

    An old fashioned gum eraser takes it out really slick. We sell a lot of erasers at the store, because it works so well.

    I find this happens with a really dull blade!

    Try changing your blade to a new one see if that makes a difference;
    I bet it will. =)
