Default Moda precut whites/off white..which one do you suggest using for quilts?

Hello everyone...I was wanting to use Moda 9900 200 (little off white and not as brite) on my quilt after reading a moda blog that suggested not to use Moda 9900 97...unless you were dying fabric. The Moda 9900 98 is the very white bleached color.

My question is that I am having trouble locating the Moda 9900 200 in precuts online....find it in yardage only. I have found one place that carries the junior layer cakes.

Does anyone else use the 9900 200 and have a good place to purchase it? Thank you in advance. I am new to quilting and would like to use the same whites for all my quilting....and open to all suggestions and ideas!!

If you want to use the same fabric for all your quilting why not buy the yardage? I would probably buy a bolt of it if I planned to use it a lot- fabric lines get discontinued when something new comes along to replace it. You can easily cut your yardages into what ever ( precuts) you want to use.

I agree with ckcowl, that is the only way you will be sure you have the same dye lot.

Did a little research - very interesting differences explained here:

Also, if you are a wash-before-cutting-the-fabric person - it's much easier to wash yardage than little pieces.

clamclam...that is the exact blog I read and was referring to...not to use 9900 97 unless you were dying fabric...the 9900 200 is similar in color but not easy to locate in precuts...not sure why! And the bright 9900 98 is readily available in all precut sizes. You would think if a company refers to not using a product...then the others would be more readily available....darn it!!

Yes...buying a bolt would be a great solution and I might have to do that. However, being newer to quilting...the precuts are easier for me to use now.

Moda only makes "Junior Layer Cakes" in Bella Solid #200. I just checked the Moda website. They retail for $19.99, and I'm assuming they probably have 21 squares.

Yardage is a whole lot less expensive.

I always use Kona Snow and I buy it by the bolt. It is on sale right now at Hancocks of Paducah. A 9 yard mini bolt is about $50. They sell it in jelly rolls, charms, layer cakes, etc. I have had really good luck with my purchases from there.
