My take on it. Laugh and embrace your work of art!

Also - if an iron has an automatic shut-off - when the iron is moved, it will heat up again if one did not actually turn it off.

I usually - or so I thought - click the iron to "off" - so I set a cold iron on carpet - and the iron heated up and melted the carpet.

Now DH put an extension cord up so that it is easier to plug and unplug the iron in - and I always unplug it now when I am not using it.

I love your advice! I'll never forget when a pot of eggs boiled dry and the eggs exploded! Hours later, I Finally finished cleaning the ceiling!

You made my day. That really is funny and I really needed a laugh today. It is exactly something that I would do. Yes, I do feel sorry that it happened though. Guess you just have to look at the bright side. You get to buy a new iron!

Thanks for sharing. Very funny and sort of inspiring. No matter what, we keep on quilting.

Thanks for the safety reminder! I see a commercial in there somewhere. Hopefully, you have a new iron now.

my iron shuts off while I"m ironing! every time! well it beeps and will shut off if I don't lift it up an upright, then continue ironing a bit more. someone made mine wrong! otherwise it is a good iron. will shut off but i always punch the button to go down and show blue. means off. Then when completely done in sewing room, i unplug from extension cord.
