Default can't find owners manual

I inherited a Brother Pacesetter XL5001 but without a user manual. This machine is totally different than the old Brother (1960) I have. This one has a lever, a big silver button, knobs and a very unusual bobbin case. I have searched the internet and found nothing. Another member, Patricia, tried and also came up empty.
So, if any one has such a sewing machine, would you please help me and give me instructions on how to operate it. Sadly, I have already broken 4 needles. I do know for a fact that auntie was using it constantly and turned out beautiful items. So, it has to be me!
Anyway, thank you for reading this post and for any help!

I found it for $24.00. It's at Tia's, which is usually reliable. However, it says they are not responding to emails until further notice due to a family emergency. There are several XL models available for free for download from Brother. I might look at photos/drawings of those that are available from them and see if one is close enough to solve your problems.

bkay that is actually a hard copy of the Service Manual. I didn't look for any other XL machines. One could download if there is one available, that would work.

I don't know if this is the right one or not - https://sewconsult.com/product/brother-xl-5001/ I don't know anything about them.

I agree with looking at other XL models on Tia's site. I will sometimes check out manualslib.com

https://www.brother-usa.com/products/xl5001 only has an "overview" of the machine. I know I got a manual from Brother that said it was for an VX808 but the name didn't include 808.

There is an owner's manual available on Sewing Parts Online.

I think you'll find :"No Longer Available" at https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/in...r-xl-5001.aspx

I missed that, Janey. I did not follow all the links, but that may be available for free.

I was suggesting that she look for similar looking Brother machines (may help....hers is referred to as a convertible) and look on the Brother site for a free manual that might help her enough to figure out the ins and outs.

The other option is to look for a Brother or Japanese sewing machine group on Yahoo, facebook or that other one that ends in .io (hopefully, someone will fill in the blank on the .io thing) as they often have manuals in their files.

One other thought is to look for a phone number for Brother. You can often find them if you keep on looking at their website (usually a link (generally "contact") at the bottom of the home page in the tiny writing).

Another Service Manual on ebay.

https://www.brother-usa.com/products/xl5001 just says that it is a discontinued product and that it is a a sewing and embroidery machine. However, there is a phone number on that page and and maybe ask if there is a comparable machine that they have a manual for. I know they have a manual for VX800 series of machines.

Default re:can't find owners manual for Brother

To start with I want to give a big "thank you" to bkay, ourworkbench, Quiltbear and osewme for responding to my plea. I am totally amazed with the computer skills you all have at finding things on the webb. That definitely is not one of my skills!
I shall try all the suggestions and perhaps with any luck someone will have the manual I need. I will give you notice if success is made.
Thank you again.

A Facebook site, Vintage Sewing Machines (Non Singer), is a treasure trove of manuals for this type of machine. The moderator was able to get one for the Universal before I gave it away.
