No it isn't bad. I primarily use the bottom line because it is less expensive than aurifil (which I use in the top), poly threads don't make near as much lint as cotton and I can get a lot of thread on the bobbin.

Iceblossom: I use the Superior sew fine 50 wgt in my Handiquilter Avante and it does not have the lint I have found other threads to have. When I bought my machine (used) the lady that had it said that is what she used and cleaned her bobbin case with an oiled rag each bobbin change and had not had a problem. I would like to find a source for the thread locally, but no one has it in my area, so have ordered from Redrock Thread (think that is the name). It was the cheapest place on line that I found.

I have this thing... I refuse to sign up for sites first. I've refused to join Pinterest because they want my information before they let me look. Won't do Zulily for the same reason, they make me want to look but I don't wish to risk my on-line security just to find out I don't like their postage or return policy or whatever. Going through the manufacturer, I must create an account for them before I get pricing information. Well, I don't want them to have my personal contact information if I don't make an order, so I'm not going that way and I guess I'm at a crossroads.

big SoFine fan here, although I'll use Permacore, Glide and Fantistico or Magnifico also on the long arm. Plus MicroQuilter and Superior BottomLine,too. I generally buy cones, so when a cone gets very low I'll take to the domestic machine and use there.

Recently I attended classes from Renae Haddadin regarding longarming. We had a good hour of training learning about the importance of thread. A real eye opener for me. Then we proceeded to the machines and used a verity of threads and weights to see what the outcome would be. Superior thread was great along with so fine in the bobbin. Also Innovatech had good results. She uses polyester instead of cotton. I have always used cotton so I'm trying some polyester threads too. Always learning.
