Well, today I learned that all the French speaking Canadians don't live in Quebec! Welcome to the board. Are you planning on doing a stitch in the ditch quilting going on the edges of the blocks? If so, and you are really concerned about the spacing, you can also do diagonal stitching to get the lines of stitching closer. I have done that before. be sure you show us your quilt when it is done, ok?

Thanks again everyone for the comments.
And of course I'll post a picture once done. Another week or 2 I think.
I'm just getting tired with it now because its hard to work with that much material and my lines are getting crooked.
Just taking a lot of brakes now before I get mad and throw in a bin until next year. lol

The only reason I mention english is not my language is because my wife toll me she can hear my accent when reading what I write. hahaha! And I'm sure she's right.

Most of northern ontario is pretty french. At least all the lumber towns since most employee / owners when the mill open were from Quebec.

Anyhow, Merci encore tout le monde!

**edit**
And yes, "stitch in the ditch". I had to youtube that.
All the "ditch" is done now at 9". now moving to middle for 4 1/2".
This is why my lines are getting ~~~~~~ but I youtube again and found I can use soap to make a line to follow.

I leave the ~~~ line in there because it's my first. I don't think it suppose to be perfect.
If it's really bad and my OCD don't like it, it will live at the ?érablière? (maple camp?)

Thanks for the update. As far as the ~~~ goes, many machines have what we call "serpentine" stitch and it looks exactly like that and hides any number of fabric or piecing or quilting sins.

I used it recently for the first time, I should have adjusted the points so they were more curvy than pointy but I liked it on my sample and by the time I realized I didn't like it so much on the top I was already committed and decided to soldier on. Also, I didn't draw the lines I should have for the rows with the big blocks but most people aren't going to notice there is a bit of a skew and some of the grid is a bit off here and there. A lot of times we are just too close to our own work, and any flaws we are aware of are magnified.

I posted a picture of it here, I don't recommend high loft batting for beginners btw, no need to make it harder than it has to.
