Default Stabilizer

I'm almost out of the iron-on stabilizer that I bought many moons ago. I was surprised at how much that stuff costs these days. I use it on the back of my base block when stitching down the edges of raw-edge applique.

Has anyone tried using freezer paper as a stabilizer instead of the expensive stuff?

I have used freezer paper for appliqué for a long time. Just remember to iron the shiny side down. Use the small stage so that the paper is easy to rip when you are finished

I always wondered if you could just use the pellon used in clothing and use the spray glue to stick it on. I have never tried it but intend to try since the pellon isn't as expensive and stabilizer.

I have used tissue paper I buy at the 99 cent store. I make sure to put the shiny side down so that the feed dogs can work with it. It tears easily, is cheap and works for me.
