Default I have some questions ...

May I ask you some questions? Was there any difficulty with the panel in the middle? Where did you start the quilting? Can I assume you did not double batt the quilt? I bought a panel and fabric to make a similar quilt, but I’ve been concerned that the density of the panel compared to the rest of the quilt would cause some problems. One quilter said to baste the whole quilt in a 4“ grid before starting. She recommended starting in the center and working out, but I thought to SID first around borders, then quilt the outer border for stability, then the panel, then the fabric surrounding the panel. Does that sound like a good plan to you? What order did you quilt in? You’re the first person I’ve seen do the dream big panel in the middle. And it’s stunning. Ruth

I didn't have any trouble with the panel being in the middle, and I didn't use double batting anywhere. I quilted it on a longarm. I stabilized the whole thing with SITD first, and that may have included some of the outlines of the petals (I don't remember for sure). Then I quilted the center panel because I knew that would be the most time consuming, and I don't remember the order after that. Normally I work down from the top, but it doesn't really matter once the whole quilt is stabilized.
