Default Kenmore 158.19461

I recently purchased this at a church rummage sale for $15.00 and it runs and stitches beautifully. However, the thread cutter is super dull. Does anyone have any ideas where to get a new one?

Take it off and sharpen it. Use a whetstone or maybe even a steel that you use for kitchen knives would help. It shouldn't take much. It's probably easier than finding a replacement.

I was thinking along bkay's line.. but maybe gently with a Dremel and a grindstone. Might be to course, though.

I would agree with sharpening it, but you might also try one of the presser bar thread cutters used on many Singers. Sew-Classic has them for around six bucks. My Kenmore came with one on it.

Is the thread cutter built into the back of the presser foot bar? Some machines are that way. There are also some others like Sewjourner mentioned https://shop.sew-classic.com/Singer-...-PFW-26075.htm that fit around the presser foot bar. There are also some that attach with the presser foot that have a spring with a blade. http://www.cutexsewingsupplies.com/g...ewing-machines There are also some that stick on a sewing machine https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/th...f-machine.aspx And while I was looking for these I found https://www.vintagesingerparts.com/p...eries-machines

I know I like thread cutters on the machine.
