looking for a foot
I bought a singer 4411 and am learning it's little idiosyncrasies
I need a foot that will put an edge on a project
I am working with canvas and would like to trim the edge with a thin strip of leather folded over the edge and sewn
I bought a rolled hem foot. but that is made to fold over the material you are working with. I am adding the leather and need a way to have a straight stitch line
any thoughts?

It sounds like this is what you are looking for. It's called an edge stitch or edging foot. You likely will need to know whether your machine is a high or low shank presser foot bar.

I believe what you want it a binder or binding foot. A vintage one might work if leather is right width and fed into the binder evenly. There are some vintage bed mount binders that would probably work, too. Then there are modern ones like https://so-sew-easy.com/use-binding-foot/ and https://www.sailrite.com/Sewing-Mach...-Parts/Binders
