Hi! I have a black and decker digital iron (model D2030). I have been making face masks so am using lots of steam. My soleplate looks like the attached pic. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

I have a black and decker digital iron also(don't know model #). I don't know what is on your sole plate but I've used a Mr. Clean magic eraser on mine(when cold of course) and it worked well. Maybe worth a try.
Or another method I use on a shiny metal surface like that is DRY baking soda. Rub well with a paper towel or rag(some stains do take some elbow grease)and stains should come off. I then vacuum up the dry baking soda and then rub item with a damp cloth to finish off. Have used this regularly on the chrome on my toaster for years with great success.

Thanks, Sally! I found a tube of Faultless Hot Iron Cleaner and tried that. Results were amazing!! I ordered more. I will keep your suggestions also.

First of all let me welcome you to the QB from SE Michigan. I can't answer to you specific type of iron but in general I use baking soda to safely clean the iron. It works well. The other thing I do is use distilled water all the time in my iron. This to help because of any mineral build ups that come from other water sources. My irons are in use all the time and rarely do I have a problem since I started using distilled water.

This may sound odd - but I had trouble with the build up on my iron and someone here suggested running the iron over a "used" dryer sheet. And since using them -there has been no build up. I used to use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and they worked well too, just used them before I used the iron because you cannot use them on a hot iron. I keep a couple of used dryer sheets pinned to the end of my ironing board and just run the iron over them a couple times if I am using starch. They last a very long time.
