Default Can I use Guttermann 100% polyester thread to hand quilt?

I'm getting ready to hand quilt a throw and realized the best color thread to use is a machine sewing thread. Will it hold up?
TIA

I have only done big stitch hand quilting with crochet cotton, but before I started quilting I used Guttermann polyester thread quite a bit. I don't use it at all any more, because once I started using Superior So Fine, I never looked back.

I really came to hate it (yes, a strong word) for hand sewing anything, because of it's tendency to tangle and knot up. I would dread sewing on buttons or hemming anything because it was such a pain in the neck. Your mileage may vary, so I would say that if you want try it, use short lengths and something like beeswax or some other thread conditioner to keep it from tangling.

I usually you good quilting cotton thread made just for hand quilting. I always use bees wax when hand quilting. Superior is great but if you don't have access to this Coats and Clark make great hand quilting thread that is available at JAF. I have come to appreciate Superior threads and use it the most. I do a fair amount of hand quilting and like the feel of both the Coats and Clark and the Superior.

I would think it would be okay, as long as you are doing sufficient quilting on the quilt.

I use Guterman's for everything! Even mini-wholecloth patterns! Never had a tangling or other problem of any kind using it for machine and hand sewing.

I have lots of Gútermann thread still, but I don't think I have knowingly used 100% polyester in my hand quilting. Why don't you try it on a small sample like a mug rug and see how it acts?

I used the Polyester Gutterman on my very first hand quilting project which has never been finished. It was hard going. I like Gutterman hand quilting thread and normally use that.

Is it quilting thread? All I ever use is specifically for hand quilting. It's thicker.
