Default A Poinsettia Winter Quilt by Jason Yenter

Has anyone made the Poinsettia Winter quilt by Jason Yenter? I wondered how many yards of the swag border fabric was needed. I just ordered the book this morning but the border swag is hard to find, I did find it in a few places online at a good price but wasn't sure how much I'd need. I wasn't even sure how many repeats are in a yard...one photo I saw shows "4' so I'm hoping that's correct. I'd like to go ahead and order the fabric even before my book comes in. If you know the answer, please post or PM me. Thanks so much!

Not sure of the pattern you are doing. You will need extra repeats to do a mitered corner on the borders so add a little extra in the calculations.

This website https://www.wintercreekcloth.com/A-P...t_p_10405.html shows the border as being 10 inches wide with a 4 repeat across the fabric and it looks like they have all the fabric.

This website http://www.thequiltcorner.biz/shop/c...2074%E2%80%9D. says the finished quilt size is 74x74 and has a kit to make the quilt.

Edited to add: Because the corners have to be mitered on the curve of the green, I would verify what they say you need and add about an extra 12 inches to it. If you only had to miter and didn't have to match the pattern, it would be a bit simpler.

Based on the finished being 74x74, that is slightly more than 2 yards long and there are 4 sides and 4 repeats across the fabric, so you will probably need about 2 1/2 yards to make sure you can miter the corners. Email wherever you bought the pattern from and ask them.

That's a beautiful quilt. This website has a chart that show cutting/kitting charts and also one that shows BOM cutting guide. Just click on the links below the picture of the quilt & it will take you to the charts. Not sure if this will help you but it's good information to have.

I'm in the process of making this. I'm on the tree blocks right now and those are paper pieced. I bought the fabric kit from quilt shop and the swag border fabric was included. It is 3 yards. The book says you need 2 7/8" yard.

Wow, that's going to be a gorgeous quilt! Love Jason Yenter's work. The Ajisai prints are super gorgeous....
Can't wait to see one of these completed.

I can't answer your question, but I must say, that quilt is beautiful! I might have to buy that pattern.
