Paint thinner on a cloth might work unless the furniture has a lacquer finish. Test in an inconspicuous spot

Regular cooking oil dissolves adhesive and wouldn’t hurt most wood surfaces. I’d try some on a cloth, make sure I wiped it all up, then wipe down with a damp soapy cloth, let dry, then use regular furniture polish.

Been there, done that! Don't remember what I used but it worked. Lesson learned! Now I use a large piece of cardboard that I hold in one hand to block whatever needs blocking (like the wall next to my layout table), or the edge of the table, etc. I love spray baste!
