Default What and now to use

Among knitting needles purchased at auction there is a device that I have no idea how to use. Can someone tell me what it is and how it is used, please? Maybe a pattern or a website with tutuorial?
It looks like a crochet hook but has a long slender attachment like is on a circular knitting needle. There is a "stopper" on the end. Made by Boye so it has to be something intentional, if only I knew how to use it.

It's probably a tunisian crochet hook.

I agree a tunisian crochet hook . A few links to get you started

The last one looks neat, but I'm sure I couldn't get it to look that nice. I have problems keeping consistent tension and especially over large projects. Might be why I don't do large project. I think I did try a swatch of Tunisian once, just because. I really don't crochet.

Thank you for the quick replies! What a pretty stitch! Ugh--love that second one with the pretty blue afghan but looks like it's complicated, too. I suppose the long slender "knitting needle" extension is used if wanting to put more stitches for a bigger piece such as an afghan. Again thank you for the identification and shared tutorials/patterns.
