    Default Golden Oak Applique

This is my first full size applique quilt. It's twin size. I used fusible web to attach the applique and then a blanket stitch to secure. I can see a bit of fray on some of the leaves, so I a bit concerned how it will wear. Each quilt I make I learn something new so I guess if it does fray, the next time I'll use a zig zag stitch. Anyway, I am very happy with this one. Thanks for looking.

I think your quilt and your quilting are both beautiful. I know you have put a lot of work into this and it really looks nice. However, I'm like you , thinking a zig-zag would keep it from fraying. I think when you do the blanket stitch it may be better on a wallhanging that you could wash by hand and even then, it's just too much work for it to fray. I do think your work is exquisite.

You put hrs of work into this and it is beautiful. Hope you have a solution to the fraying.

The fraying is nothing major right now, but of course it's not been washed or used. I'm not upset that this is occurring as the quilt doesn't have a home other than mine. Like I said, a learning experience so if/when I decide to do another applique quilt I will take the appropriate precautions HaHa. Thank you for perspective :-)

Beautiful quilt. I think with any raw edge appliqué you will get a little fraying. Hopefully it will not any more than what you see now.
