I’m Weakening
The more I see of all your progress the more I’m tempted to join in. What do you think I of these colors? Im thinking blue for the gray. There’s not much contrast with the red and blue so how about the gray?
Or instead of the peacock fabric maybe a be plainer green. OOPS! Got that one twice.

@quiltsRfun You should definitely join it! I love the peacock fabric so I would definitely use that. I think the fabrics in your first photo are very nice - I like the gray better than the blue.

I finished Clue 2 last night. It looks like Bonnie is following the style of Frolic with matched sets and smaller numbers to complete in each clue. It worked well last year and lots of people were able to keep up. Glad so many on QB are joining in.

Today some black neutraled clue 2s were shown on Quiltville. I didn't like them as well as the light ones, although it's hard to tell out of context. Still torn on which way to go, and still unable to cut.

I was wondering how much yellow we have left? I started with 3 yards and do my blocks differently than the way she shows. So my initial row cuts are a little larger starting out. I’m asking b/c I want to use the excess for another mystery.
- I cut out my strips and marked over 1/2 of the 1/2 square for the hour glass blocks. Tomorrow AM I will finish marking and sew all of that step.
- I’m making a queen or king size top for this project. If I like the reveal, I will enlarge to king, otherwise I plan to keep it a queen and follow her pattern exactly.

Happylab, I have about a quarter yard or so of yellow yardage left, and a couple of narrow short strips. I used my scraps from part 1 for part two before I cut into my yardage. I ran out of pink last year because of the sets and was stalled for a couple of clues while I waited for more, so I am trying to be as efficient as possible with my fabric. One of my yellows was copyrighted 2002!
On the other note, have most of the blocks for part 2 made, have a few more sets to finish. Then pressing and trimming...these blocks are so tiny they are trying to warp really hard on me thanks to all the bias. Probably going to have to press each one and weigh it down till cool to keep them flat.

Given the above, the yellow yardage requirements were a little more than 12% of the total yardage. I think it’s likely that the yardage requirements were probably rounded up to an even amount (that is, even if Bonnie thought we needed only 7/8s of a yard, she would have suggested having at least 1 yard).
When Clue 2 is finished, the yellow portions will make up about 6% of the finished size of the quilt. After accounting for seam allowances, it is possible we are mostly finished with the yellow.
In contrast, the grey fabric makes up 40% of the required fabric and the grey portions used in Clues 1 and 2 make up less than 4% of the finished quilt. So we are going to be using a lot more grey before this project is finished.
Hope this helps.
