I just noticed there are two different clearview feet available for the 9mm.
Mine has the cutout area instead of straight hole so I can move the needle
to the right. Looks like this.

interesting foot ... very interesting.
i think that would work very well in situations such as Kwiltr described.
i think it might make "Y" seams easier, too, since you'd have a better view of where to start and stop.
another "toy" to spend my time and money on.

I'm having terrible trouble with mine. I got it in September and made 3 quilts for my niece and nephews. The first two went fine. I love quilting with the HP2 foot. On the third, I'm having terrible trouble. Thread breaks almost every 10cm (same cotton thread as the first 2). The needle is not centred between the prongs on the HP2 foot. It is very close to the right side. If I sew at anything other than the slowest pace, the needle bounces and breaks on the footer. I've been sewing holding the quilt with a finger near the left side of the footer prong to try to centre the needle between the prongs. The needle is centred above the hole in the machine, so I think the problem is with the footer. I have removed and replaced at least 10 times. Now the machine has started skipping stitches and the bobbin tension won't adjust. I have changed needle (4 broken needles and 3 random changes just to try a different one). The one blessing from covid is that family time has been cancelled this year, so I have a few extra days to figure out a work around so that I can finish this quilt and post it off.

After thinking about this machine and talking w/DH decided NOT to buy it. Not sure if I will get my money's worth due to my age. No one in my family sews so no one to give it to when I quit sewing. Never used the special stitches when I had my Baby Lock. Found a Brother on line yesterday that may be better. Will contact dealer Monday to see if they have a floor model.

Not sure if the clearview foot comes with the machine or you have to buy
separately. I had one for my 6600 and when I got my 9400 I got another
one. Make sure you get the 9mm foot. Here's what it looks like.

I talked to my Janome dealer in Moline, Illinois about this machine last week and am shocked at a MSRP $8,000 price line. Bob (repairman and dealer) quoted me $5,500, but said depending on Janome having sales or not he might be able to get the price down to $4,600. I didn't buy one, but had my Janome 1600P repaired and cleaned for $79.95 instead.
