Right or wrong side of fabric?
I use a lot of tone on tone fabric (white on white, beige on beige) for backgrounds. HOWEVER sometimes it can be so hard to determine which is which until I sew it into the block. So to avoid this issue, when I cut the first long strip, I flip it over and use my washable marker to make a line on the WRONG side. Now I know which side is the RIGHT side. Saves time and my "redesign tool" (seam ripper) can have a rest. I always wash my quilts before gifting so the mark IF it shows, washes out.

Great idea! Reminds me of what a shop owner said to me once when I was saying the wrong side of some wideback would be perfect for a quilt I was making--she said "use whatever side works cause you pay for both sides"!
