suern3, I'm looking forward to seeing your grunge version! Grunge is such a great fabric line, I bet those variations it has will look beautiful in clue 6, since the pieces are quite large. I think you could do strings for this clue if you wanted to, even if the rest of your quilt is in yardage.

    jillmc, your colors look wonderful

Finally, I've finished a clue! Here are my clue 4s. My accuracy was variable; I had quite a few good ones, quite a few a little off, and a few stinkers. I should be able to use them all.

I've decided to make two more sets of clue 1 HSTs, in case there was a numeric error in the first clue.

I'm plugging away on my string blocks, I'm sewing the strips in pairs and sewing them together. Got another round or two and they'll be ready to trim and add the corners.

Still undecided about the grey strings...the corners are not stitched on yet. I assume these will be sashing blocks.
Not sure my color choices will come together, but it’s been fun. I am only making half of each unit until reveal day.
These are gorgeous! I love your color choices...

I made some extra’s, too, since I don’t know my layout yet for a smaller version. Your units looks fantastic!!

I’ve got part 6 cut and ready to sew on corners. I did not do string...I have a lot of gray but I like the prints on them...

I didn’t have any suitable paper in the house, so I just stitched them as they were. I’m hoping I can use them as accent pieces somewhere in the finished quilt.
Wow...gorgeous! Your scrap bin made some beautiful units. Well done!

I've got my strips sewn and trimmed, ready for the corners. I've never been able to get the covered corners method to turn out correct (the always end up too small). I love my easy angle ruler, it's one of my most used ones.

Your browns look great! I considered changing the grey to browns since I have so much of them. Really looking forward to seeing your finished quilt with this substitution.

Macybaby, those are beautiful string blocks!

I finished cutting my strings last night, and my pieces for the clue 5 9-patches. I hope to make major progress today!

I love seeing how everyone's units are coming together! Macybaby your string pieces look great.

Here are my half-baked Week 6 units. I did the string piecing using old phone book pages for the foundation. The foundation didn't really work for me, as I had to trim the units again after removing the foundation paper but before adding the corner units. When I forgot this step, I ended up re-sewing some of the seams because the units were too big.

I also tried to sew the bonus triangles when using the sew and flip square method for the corners. This was why Bonnie suggested no seams within an inch of the edge: my bonus triangles often ended up with a a messy seam allowance due to intersecting seams. I decided it was not with the effort to get some half-square triangles that measure 1.25" un-finished.

What do we expect for Week 7? Another clue or another clue and the reveal?
