I've seen it on the Schmitz website, at least I think that's where it was. Thought about if for a minute and then ordered my regular needles. Until there are more reviews or advertisements on it I doubt of I'll be buying one.

I have not used this needle, but one of my friends told me that that was what she used when she first started doing FMQ and thread painting. It was long before I did either of those things so it might have been that FMQ feet weren't as readily available for all machines.

These type needles have been around for a long time. My grandmother had one for her old Singer but never used it. She called it a darning foot and she said she'd be damn if she darned anything. She would stitch up a busted seam or add a patch but never darned. I always thought she meant socks. LOL

Very interesting, looks kind of wicked. I would be willing to try a needle like that for my FMQ.

Yes! My friend also called it a darning foot! In fact, one of my Bernina's called the FMQ foot a darning foot. My theory is the same as your grandmother's I'll put a patch on or sew up a ripped seam but I'm not darning anything!

My mother darned socks by hand. I still have her darning egg but it's just for sentimental value. I'm definitely not darning socks.

I haven't seen this before. Very interesting design. It looks like it can make FMQ much easier. I will keep following this thread to see what comes of it. The more information the better. Would love to know what machines it does fit.
