It looks like the OP hasn't been on QB since 2014. It sure looks like she combined a Triple Irish Chain with the Sunbonnet Sue in the center.

    Default Border Advice

Lovely quilt; wonderful fabrics. I like the pieced border very much, but I think that to tie the mostly pastel quilt and white borders together, your vine border could be enhanced by a black (or black and white print as in your Sues) fabric vine finishing with a solid black binding frame. I, too would remove the butterflies as somewhat distracting.

March/April 2005 issue # 102 of "Quiltmaker" magazine features a really pretty Irish Chain Sunbonnet (pp 56-60) designed by Carol Goin.

I also like the pieced border adding a thin soli color between the quilt and border.

Hi Kelpers77--I think I have successfully uploaded a picture of Carol Goin's "My Irish Grandma Sue" quilt published in Quiltmaker magazine March/April 2005, Issue # 102, pp 56-60. You can still find copies of that issue on the web but I do not believe the pattern is available any longer from the Quiltmaker web site. It's a really pretty Sun Bonnet Sue pattern--one of the nicest I have found. Pinterest has some closeup shots of the beautiful quilting on Carol's quilt.

Another vote for the pieced border. It just seems to "flow" better. Love the applique pieces in the border.

The pieced border! It belongs. A second choice is lavender. Yellow is my favorite color, but doesn't look right with Sue.
