I'd like your opinion on what color for a bird applique
Hi. This is the last thing I have to do to have my LBB flimsy done. I decided I wanted this bird in the corner to be a bluebird. There's a couple more birds like this on the quilt and the blues were so much alike that the wings didn't stand out very much. So, I was thinking of making the body of the bird a medium grey. Would that look awful?
Or, should I stay with the blue for the body in a lighter or darker shade? I have the larger wing cut out, the belly and the smaller wing sewn on already and I'm really ready to get it done. Of course, there's embellishing to do but hoping to finish it this weekend so I'll be ready for the quilting.
I'd really like your opinion about how to finish this bird. Thanks.

You do such lovely work! The female Mountain Bluebird has a pale grey underside and blue wings and is gorgeous, maybe google it. The colour you have shown on my screen looks pinkish in tone and would also look good with the blue wings.

On my screen the wing looks a different color so I think it would work. If they’re actually the same fabric I guess I would use a slightly different shade blue for body vs wing. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks, ladies. I've made a decision. I picked some light blue grunge fabric that I had in my stash. It won't take much. By fussy cutting the brownish splotch areas for the head, I think this will work.
One is sewn on and three more to go. Then I can start the embroidery and embellishing. Getting it ready to quilt by the end of the weekend is my goal.
