Food Prepping, Cooking, Baking, Grilling, etc.?
When working with food, I tend to say "I am cooking" only when heat is involved -
when food/ingredients are still cold - I am "prepping"
When you work with food - is "everything you do" lumped into the term "cooking"?

I think I tend to say "I'm cooking or fixing" supper or lunch, whatever meal, when preparing a meal, hot, cold or in between. Just thought of one thing though, I would not say I am cooking salad. I think I just use the term "fixing" more than "cooking" . I don't know, Bear, I think you've got me going in a circle!

I try to remember to be grateful that
1) I have access to food
2) I can tolerate food
3) I have someplace to prepare it
4) I am still working on being grateful for the clean-up involved with the process!

I think of food. it's i'm cooking breakfast, making lunch or super.
or packing my lunch for work.
Or I'm canning, which means anything being prepared for winter.
like today canning sliced carrots and pepper jelly .
I can alot from the gardens and orchard.
but baking if it comes to pies, cookies and bread.
I don't lump it all in one phrase .
