This quilt is perfect as it is! I wouldn't do a thing to change it. As far as batting goes . I love Warm and Natural. It is manageable light weight and very warm. I have tried a number of different batts and this one is top of the line IMHO. Keep doing what you are doing!

Thank you. Thanking each of you for all the helpful suggestions. I like the idea of using brown thread in the peach stars to tie it in with the rest. I have enough fabric in peach to make the thinner border.
No, I will not be quilting it myself. all this is a 1st time for me and don't want to spoil it. So I will have to find someone to quilt it I suppose. Will have to understand the costs of course. I'm retired now !!!!!

There is no such thing as "messed up" when quilting! So called "messes" can make the most interesting quilts. We quilt from the heart, not from the color wheel. If you don't like it now, you can always tweek things...such as stitch applique in the middle, or making a mini quilt from the fabric you used to make the quilt and applique the mini in there, until you are happy with your creation.
My BIL was a western water color artist. Once, I looked in his trash can and here were all these gorgeous paintings in there. I asked if I could have the "trash" and he said "no" because he only wanted his best work to be seen by the public. I thought he was being silly, but I learned the lesson that something you create does not have to be "perfect" to be loved and enjoyed.

Wow, I do like this quilt and the fabric colors too. I'm not sure about the border fabric, but you might want to audition several fabrics that may compliment the overall pattern. A cotton blend batting might be a good choice.
