The blocks do get easier after you've done a few, so hang in there. I agree: pattern at hand helps!

anyone make this out of left over 2.5 inch strips or scraps? Seems like that would work also without having to get a jelly roll?

I have made it that way sewingpup. The way the strips get broken up, change in fabric patterns and extra seams didn't bother me. I would show it but I have given the quilt away. I did it the same. I made strips the longest length and seams falling where they may.

I'm using left over jelly rolls. All sorts of colors and prints. Also cut apart "interesting" fat quarters that otherwise may not make it onto a quilt. Love the way the first block turned out. Slow and steady wins the rrace.

I intend to cut 2.5" inch straps from stash for this. I don't buy jelly rolls very often. I have one now, but it's reserved for another purpose.

I’ve seen this pattern and downloaded it, but haven’t attempted it yet!

This is what I'm doing to keep myself organized with this pattern.
    • On the printed pattern, I have put a star above the first strip that was added in the FIRST step.
      • I do this on everry pic in the instructions. Helps me to orintate how to rotate my fabric..
    • On the first bock I've made, I use a washable marker and draw arrows pointing to the first strip.
      • This helps me to match up my block to the pattern in the rotation.
    • I only work on one block at a time but do allow myself to make several blocks in the frist step. Really hard to screw up the first block!!! lol

So I finished the top yesterday and now working on the back. Have several blocks that I cut/sewed wrong. Labeled them as "oops", sashing them and creating a scrappy back. Have to admit its a cool back...lol.
