I hear so may of us say, " I will die with a huge fab stash". I've said this, too. I love making quilts and Project Linus is now my charitly of choice.

Making the top is probably the most fun for all of us but many quilters have issues with the quilting process.

So I had an AH HA moment yesterday.

Going forward I hope to make at least one TOP for for every 3 finished quilts I donate each month. There are several long armers in both groups that I sew with so I know the tops should find their way to a new quilter's house.

I mentioned this issue to one "leader" and she said, "GO FOR IT. Mary hates to piece but loves to quilt!"

I know I'll have to be more careful with my piecing and make sure to secure ends of each row but I think this is a great way to increase the donation numbers, decrease my stash, and more quilts for kids.

So this may be a triple solution.

You are lucky to have spare long arm ladies. The top is usually not the problem - it's the finishing. I'm even willing to do the backing. I have 4 hanging out right now waiting for sandwiching. My quilting is pretty basic - lots of straight lines and point to point. If I could hand off to someone who would do a better job.... Golden!

i save all my scraps and take them to the thrift store when i get a bag full.

I make the tops, backing and binding for charity. My guild provides the batting and quilting. I like to use Fabric Cafe patterns for I can use 3 one yard pieces, 1/2 yard for binding and about 3 yards for backing. A good way to use up my stash.

I just watched one of the Fabric Cafe tutorials and I am tempted to buy one of the books. I think the simplicity of patterns make the stunning fabric shine and impress. Blue Bell, do you have one pattern that you use or one book that is your "go to"?

Stepping Stones, Awareness Ribbons are my favorites. I JUST purchased Make it Christmas today. She has a Christmas tree pattern which I must make and several other patterns in this book that are enticing me. The quilts can be done up quickly and they look very nice. Most of the patterns that I have are individual patterns. This is my first book which also has directions to make the quilts larger. She sometimes has free patterns after her segment showing how she groups her fabrics. The latest free patterns were Cartwheel and Flying Geese.
I am sure that you will be pleased with her patterns.
