Default Ideas for Scrappy 2 1/2" Squares

I have a lot of 2 1/2" squares, divided up into colour families. Does anyone have any ideas for an interesting and different pattern to use them in? No stars, please.

Thanks, Watson

I love the scrappy tried and true patterns - irish chain and Arkansas Crossroads. The Quilted Twins website offers tons of free scrappy patterns most out of squares. I saw a cute pattern called Seeing Double by Then Came June but haven't purchased nor made it. Not even sure it's 2 1/2" squares but it certainly could be. This should be a very interesting thread for us scrappy lovers!

For the last several years there have been candy swaps on the board. Inside the threads there are lots of ideas from inside and outside the QB for how to use the candy squares. @Macybaby did a large color wash quilt and posted it in one of the threads, but I can’t remember which one. Anyway, you might find just what you’re looking for in one of the threads. Here’s a link to the 2022 thread: https://www.quiltingboard.com/vbulle...p-t317206.html

In her book "Scraps Plus One!" Joan Ford has a quilt called Flower Bed. She uses 3.5 inch squares, but I plan to make it with 2.5 inch squares. It's rather unique and I thought it looked easy and interesting.

You can use 2.5" squares in Double Wedding Ring arches. I have a DWR template set that fits 2.5" squares. And, if you are really adventurous, you can do Cathedral Windows using 2.5" squares! There is also a book called "Jelly Roll Sampler", or something like that, and most of the blocks in it would work for 2.5" charms. I am (slowly!) working on the basket sampler quilt from the book and only using charms. Just a few ideas.

Thank you for sharing, I love making Trip Around the World and table runners, but I still didn't make a dent
