I am pretty new at this and thinking about buying a long arm machine it has a speed regulator but not a stitch regulator, a 14 bed and a 30 inch arm. It's in my area for around $500. Would this be a good starter machine for a new quilter

At that price, it would certainly help you figure out if you actually like to longarm or not! You did say $500, right?

I would be jumping on that machine because Nolting is good company, and you will enjoy using it.

yep $500. I am sure I would like to long arm for the typ of quilts I am makeing. My concerns were/are the speed regulator but not a stitch regulator. not really sure how that would work because It will be doing a lot of curves and not really sure howw that would work since I would be going pretty slow for awhile

For that price, I would take it for a test drive. If it's set up, go for it.

I would definitely want to try it out before purchasing it. Does it say it is in good working condition? Yes, that is a fantastic price. I do not have a stitch regulator on my machine, but I mostly do meandering. I am not into customized quilting. It works for me.

If it sounds too good to be true...

I would definitely go look at it, but it just seems unreasonable for someone to be selling a functioning longarm for that price. I would take someone with me and worry about it possibly being a hoax. Many people do wonderful work without a stitch regulator, so I wouldn't necessarily worry about that aspect. The dimensions of this machine are bigger than the typical machines made today and would be more suited for a manufacturing environment than home use. 30" machines are usually sold today only with a computerized system.

Bingo....thats the same machine. It was $2000 then. Now it's dropped to $500. They may need money or just looking to get rid of it. I am, at this point looking for info from quilters with some knowledg before I start asking questions and get someones hopes up and find I't not for me or it's a nogo and piss em off....
