Default Another QOV done

Hello Quilters! I am often the recipient of unwanted fabrics or panels for our quilts of valor. I don’t even remember who passed this big un-square yardage on to me. I see where they had cut one emblem block out so I had 19 to work with. They were probably like me and couldn’t square it up without the frame around looking wonky. So, I cut the whole frame off. Not a spectacular quilt but it came out better than I hoped for while dealing with this mess of pillow panels, I guess you could call them. The frames weren’t even even. I think 16 1/2 inch one way and 15 the other. Anyway, I centered and squared to 12 1/2 inch and made the large half square triangles that too. Quilted Twins has a free pattern with sashing that gave me this idea but I did make this quilt top. It measures 60x84. Thank you for looking and the nice comments on my recent Bargello quilt top I made in ‘I’ve always been wanting to try this’ post.

I thought QOV are supposed to be red, white and blue. Is this something new? Are these presented to the Veterans in a ceremony like the red, whit and blue ones?

FYI: The color choice is up to the quilter. We assume that it must be RWB, but the Quilts of Valor website https://www.qovf.org/make-a-qov/ gives quilt makers the freedom to use any color as long as the quilt is to honor the service of the veteran.

Toogie, when do you sleep? You seem to be creating quilts almost daily!! This one is a good example of how to solve a problem that to someone else seemed "just too much to tackle". The old adage of making lemonade from lemons applies here. Lovely to see and beautiful precise work.

I think you worked a miracle with those wonky panels! The recipient will adore it!
