Default Need pattern ideas

I have one yard of a gorgeous wolf print that I'm not sure what to do with. I need the finished project to be twin size, so I have a lot of grays, tans and blacks to put with it. I also have a couple of yards of the bare tree fabric. Not sure if they go together. I've spent the morning going through the quilt archives looking for ideas. I may have to abandon the project due to limited theme fabric.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Here is a link to one I recently finished, I think your wolves would look great in these large squares.

Thimblebug's quilt is fantastic and I agree - it would really show off your wolves. Another option would be in a similar vein - have large squares of the wolves and then surround them with pieced borders and/or sashing made of coordinating fabrics. Maybe flying geese/ocean waves-type borders or cornerstone stars with some sort of pieced sashing? Unfortunately, I'm very much a novice designer/piecer/quilter so beware - my ideas aren't always practical or doable (but they're always beautiful in my mind!) :-)

My only other idea at present would be to use most of the wolf fabric in a large border and use your coordinating fabrics for whatever you want to do in the middle, although I think that could be challenging due to the directional print and your limited stock.

I'll be watching this thread with some interest - I have some allover dog print that poses a similar challenge...

warm wishes is a nice pattern to showcase a focus fabric.

the big squares can be made whatever size you want them.

You might also consider making "windows" cut in a piece of paper to see how the fabric would "fussy cut" - before you actually cut your fabric. Sometimes I would use a white chalk pencil to mark around the areas to maximize how many squares I could get. Sometimes I just abandoned the whole piece of fabric for another day/purpose.

When cutting fabrics for I Spy squares, some fabrics were "happy" in a five inch window - others were "happier" in a different sized window.

Will any of these work for you?
This is a free pattern from Jordan Fabrics that uses 1 yard for the solid blocks:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/06...25599452117510
They also have two free patterns that use a panel with interesting borders: "Home on the Range" and "Fantasia Panel Quilt"
The centers of the star in Jordan's "Galaxy" could be your wolf fabric.

These patterns by Fabric Cafe might give you some inspiration:

Also check out their pattern "Boomerang"

"Into the Woods" by AGS would work:

When I saw your fabric, both the wolves and trees, the thought that came to mind was doing wedges, like dresden like wedges with one going with the wide part on top then flipped with the narrow end on top, end to end across. With the wolves, then the trees so it appears that the wolves are hiding among the trees or being in a forest.

Something like this: like this, only with the block wedges going up and down

Thanks for all the great ideas! I'm intrigued by the wedge pattern. Has definite possibilities!

Personally I would cut the wolves apart so I could make multiple blocks with applique. I would not want to lose any of the wolves but that is me. Have heard the grey wolf call many times and they truly do become a part of their surroundings. Sometimes in my dreams I still hear the female calls.
