Ideas for basic FMQ?
I am an amateur FMQ w my Janome regular machine. I like to be creative, non-traditional. I like trying a different pattern for quilting with each new quilt. I am drawing a blank on how to quilt this quilt I've pieced. I call it "City scape". I know there's a great way to quilt this quilt. I have a black backing and dark gray (or black) thread. Maybe if anyone has some ideas that will be enough to get started and I can get back on track. Thanks for your help!

I would do something loopy or swirly in the yellow and maybe straight lines in your skyline. A quick and easy modern background option is what I call overlapping boxes. like a meander but with straight lines and you can cross over yourself as much as you want! and, no, you don't need a ruler, that would just be irritating.

I've used the boxes pattern to quilt a modern quilt. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy and looks really nice.
For future reference, I have Leah Day's 365 free motion quilting designs book. Its very helpful to get inspiration.
