I was gonna say, I've watched a lot of Shark Shows on Disney Plus, and not one of them mentioned whistling!

Dunster, I hope you return or exchange your new vacuum and try another on Shark. I have two Shark vacuums that work really well and are not excessively noisy. I would ignore whatever that supposed customer service person said. It doesn't matter. Just deal with Costco. I did buy a refurbished different major brand that made a terrible high pitched noise before I found my Shark. It drove my dog crazy. I kept trying to use it because I believed the hype about that brand, before finally giving up. Good luck!

[QUOTE=dunster;8566923]I just got delivery of a Shark upright vacuum, a UV850 from Costco.

Take it back, it is a motor issue, not a suction noise.

If you don't like it take it back. It doesn't matter if it whistles or not, it's annoying.

I too thought sharks whistling? What? But I have 2 Shark vacuums also, and I love them. I would say take it back for refund or exchange. Good luck on either chose.
