Default Suggestions for a Traditional Quilt

Hi All,
I have a stash of pre Civil-war themed material in small yardages (most about 2/3 yd). I bought the material prior to Craftsy shutting down so it has been very hard to find matching patterns. I would like to make a quilt in what would be a traditional pattern from this era, but really can't do any fancy (like Ohio Stars for instance) due to the sizes of the material. I thought about just making 5 inch squares sewn into rows. I do also have a charm pack of the same patterns and there is around 20 different patterns in the collection. Any suggestions on blocks?

Thanks,
Shari

Shari, my first thought was a nine patch. Very easy pattern and very traditional.

Default Bow Tie

Bow ties would work too...I made a bow tie in all reproduction fabrics and love it.

How about a pineapple? Hopefully this link to mine will work....

I used an assortment of skinny quarter-yard civil war repros.

I just made a list of some good Civil War era blocks... Jacob's Ladder, Birds In The Air, Bear Paws, Churn Dash, or Hour Glass. I'm sure you can find free patterns of all of these.

If you wanted to be adventurous, you could make a sampler.

Hi All. Thanks for all the suggestions. I like them all. I have to finish the quilt I am working on first, though (a log cabin). I hope to have enough material to make at least a queen size. I have too many lap/twin sizes which don't fit my bed, but are great for curling up on the couch.

I once made a King size Granny Sq with all 2.5 inch blocks and civil war reproduction fabrics. You can view here if you'd like to. I also had enough to make the King shams. Lucky me-lol
