Default April Showers

I cut all the pieces prior to my Shipshewana retreat in April and got most of the HSTs sewn together there LOL Since then I have been sewing the blocks together and finally completed the top last week. This is one of Bonnie Hunter's patterns called, April Showers. I had to order more backing fabric which arrived yesterday, so will begin tracing the panto onto the backing next week, then sandwich it and start quilting it from the back. It reminds me of spring lilacs, so that is the backing that I choose. The neutrals are all small print "shirting type" fabrics that I bought in Shipshewana last year. Enjoy.

It turned out really pretty. I like the colors, too.

That's a very pretty quilt. The colours go so well together.

do you trace the pattern onto the fabric? I just have my DSM and trace a pattern onto the golden threads paper, would love to figure out how to skip a step!

Yes, I trace the panto, on my large dining room table, using a light box and Crayola Ultra-Clean fine tipped markers onto the backing (or the quilt top if it is lighter colored and easy to see). After sandwiching I quilt from the traced side. I tried the Golden papers but my way allows me to do more complicated quilting and not have to rip out all that darn paper LOL I do have a Tiara with a 16" throat.

thanks for the info. Yes having the extra throat space would be a bonus.

That's the first Bonnie Hunter pattern I've seen that didn't have a zillion pieces!

Yours is beautiful. Love the colors you chose.
