Default Oops. Used Lacquer instead of shellac

I mixed my black 'blemish concealer' and filled in many chips all over the machine. Then I realized that I grabbed the lacquer instead of shellac. I am ready to japan the finish, but will the shellac work over the lacquer chip repairs?

I would post this question to Glenn in the area at the top of the old sewing machine about shellac. He answers questions.

edit: sorry about the incomplete sentence above, but the link should work anyway.

I would call the manufacturer of the shellac. The phone number is probably on the can and most companies have someone on staff that can answer questions about using their products.
