2024 UFO Adventure Challenge

Work has been a bit hectic so no progress made on getting my Jewel Box Stars into a flimsy. I should have it all together by the weekend. Finished size will be 85 X 97, big enough to cover our queen size bed, unless one of my daughters decide to claim it.

Yesterday I finished the last of the 85 blocks! Now to get the outer corners made and assemble it all. Sure is nice getting another tote emptied out. Will have time before March to decide what UFO I'll work on next.

I've got the quilt assembled, but I'm not loving the border so am going to think about it for a bit. This quilt is for me and I don't want to look at it and think I should have changed something and then didn't. If it was for someone else, I'd leave it as this design isn't bad. I've probably already got about 100 hours into this quilt, so it's worth spending a bit more time to make it something I truly love.

And I am pleased to announce my Festival of Binding is complete - I did 4 quilts in the past 48 hours. They got paused because my machine needed service. 3 were smaller charity projects but 1 was a queen.
It's good to see these projects finally finished. But now I have 2 ready for the longarm that I pieced on my smaller machine while the big one was in the shop . So the neverending cycle of UFOs continue....

Went to a charity quilting group this morning to work on donation projects and I walked out with an unfinished antique grandmother's flower garden quilt. About 1/4 done and quite a pile of flowers that are ready to be added. How did that box jump into my hands? Oh, well, I just added one more to my UFO list.

I ended up with a 40 year old grandmother's flower garden when my Mom passed away. Mom had started it and sewn most of the flowers, but then switched to crochet and never got back to finishing several quilts. Most where still in the house when she passed, but this for this one, she had previously given one of my SIL the pieces. SIL had never done anything with it so was glad to pass it off to me. My Mom had started it for my next oldest Sister, so I set out to finish it for her. I finished up the flowers, but after about 9 years of not getting it done (way too many hexi's) I changed the pattern to make it a lot simplier to complete. Gave it to my sister this summer at the family reunion. Her house is decorated in sort of an old farmhouse theme, and the quilt looked perfect on her bed.
I had sewn one row of blue hexi's around each flower, then trimmed them straight and added the green triangles between.
