Hello everyone, I am pulling from my stash to begin Eleanor Burns' Quilt in a Day Boston Commons quilt pattern. I ordered the book this morning but it won't be here until early next week. I watched her video tutorial and she says that you need 2/3 yard for the colors for a queen size quilt. But she doesn't say how much of the background fabric is needed. While I wait for the pattern book to arrive, could someone that has the book tell me how much yardage is needed for the wide background "sashing borders", the interior 2.5 inch strips and the 2.75 inch strips combined.? I would greatly appreciate it since my nearest quilt shop is over 2 hours away.

I like Eleanor Burn's Quilt in a Day Patterns and Books. Unfortunately, I don't have the Boston Commons one.

Hi Heather,
The background fabric is listed as 3.50 yards,
(8) 2.5" strips
(16) 2.75" strips
(5) Inside border strips
(cut later)

One wide border 2.25 yards
(9) 8.50" strips
First border 2/3 yards
(8) 2.5" strips
That is what's listed for the background fabric, hope it helps

Sheilar........Thank you so very much. I so greatly appreciate you looking up this information for me. I am sorry that I didn't get back sooner. Internet has been down.....love our location but also hard when utilities are damaged and it takes days to be fixed.

I am hoping that I will be able to make this Boston Commons pattern. I have wanted to for so long and have many different fabrics pulled.
