I use Terial magic a lot. the only problem is if pressed when wet it will flake and the flake will burn. I spray and let dry overnight then press. I use full strength when using my Accuquilt. That fabric is not stretching a smidge on bias cuts. I dilute it 50/50 for good body and not so much stiffness. Not long ago Amazon had a flash sale for a gallon of Terial for $20. I typed about the sale but it was over before I could submit the post. Those flash sales are fast.

Okay quilters, here's a call to arms! Someone in a quilting FB group posted this:
"Purex Sta-Flo liquid starch has stopped production due to low demand. I know a lot of quilters have been upset by this. I called the company and found that several people have already called requesting they continue producing Sta-Flo. They said that they need LOTS of calls with this request before they would consider beginning manufacturing again.
Here’s the # to call. 1-800-457-8739."
Let's flood their phone lines. 🤗

If sales were low to them when we were all buying and using it I doubt the same numbers will be enough. And the price would not be low if they did produce it again. That was a main reason I bought and used it in the first place.

I used to help my grandmother starch her doilies. She would put a pot on the stove, add cornstarch to it, heat it up until clear, then dip the doilies into the pot, dab them dry in a towel. Then my job would come in, I would pin the doilies to a big piece of cardboard using common pins, making sure all the points were in the right place. When dry, they would be stiff and hold their shape. They were used on end tables, the back of the couch, and on the arms when company came. She made a stiffer batch for this. She also made starch to put into her sprinkling bottle for ironing. I can't remember the ratio but there are some recipes on the web. I think it is advised to make a new batch each time you use it.

Linit is the only liquid starch I have found in concentrated form now. It's $16 for 1/2 gallon. Sta Flo was $2.98 up to $4.98 for 1/2 gallon. Someone brought a spray bottle of Linit to retreat. I couldn't tell any difference from St Flo but the price is hard to adjust too after Sta Flo.

I was in an antique store yesterday and they had several very old boxes of powdered starch. People use them to decorate their laundry room. I bought one because MAYBE it will still work if I mix it with water. What do you think? If not, I have a cute decor item.

I have several old boxes of ARGO Glossy starch powder. It seems to be cornstarch as the main ingredient so I doubt it will go bad because it's not to be eaten so really doesn't matter unless it has moisture get to it.
