Default I switched to laundry soap sheets

I tried the Tide brand flat sheets for the laundry in place of Tide Pods. I have now been using them for months. One large container of Pods was around $27, but the box of sheets that replaces it is $14. Wary at first, but use for Mom's laundry and our house. Amazon had a sale for $11, so I stocked up.
Also, the container is much lighter to carry!!

I use to use laundry sheets years ago (2010). Long before pods. Purex had them. They were discontinued and now being made by other brands. I had teenagers at home and the sheets were no mess, spills or over use. The sheets were like thin batting and I saved them to use in small quilting projects.
Also did you know Purex had a laundry detergent that would stop bleeding of colors. It was wonderful for quilting fabric but it was discontinue too!

I read an article recently, about laundry and dishwasher detergent pods. They may be convenient, but the amount of detergent is much more than is needed. The laundry pods are especially worrisome because they cause more wear and tear on the clothing fibers and whatever holds all the stuff inside the pods does not always completely break down in water, which can lead to sewage and septic issues.

I like the idea of detergent sheets but so far, I have only seen scented ones at astronomical prices here. Can you tear them? Do they leave a residue on your fingers? Do they work in cold water?

You can cut the sheets in half. I never wash in cold water unless the fabric requires it. I use hot water. The hot water from most washers is really not the hottest but hotter then warm. I rinse using the warm setting. I haven't priced the laundry sheets these days. They use to be low priced when I used them. I think now they are considered better for the environment, less packaging and more expensive then need to be.

In a moment of weakness, I ordered a trial package of several kinds of sheets from EC30 (made by Proctor & Gamble). Hand soap, dish soap, toilet bowl cleaner, laundry detergent and body soap, I think.

When the package arrived, the smell was so strong that I immediately got a headache. I left it to sit, open, in the back room for a few days before trying one. I used ONE of the hand soap sheets. It felt really nice, a rich creamy lather, but the smell was so awful, I gave up and pitched the entire box. Yes, I contacted them - but never received a response.

It was a complete waste of money.

I have been using Persil unscented for over a year. It got better reviews from Consumer Reports than Tide Free, which I'd been using previously. It's highly concentrated, so very little used. About half as much as regular laundry detergent would be my guess. As I can't find it locally, I get it from Amazon subscription, which saves a little. We've been happy with it thus far.

I would guess that ordering from Amazon would be better than getting a box from the grocery store that’s been sitting next to Febreeze or Gain.

I am working through a supply of Planet powder, but last time I looked, it had disappeared online. I will need a new idea after that, so glad to know about Persil.

    hugs,

The first laundry sheets were not scented that I remember. They came in a plastic white box with the word Clear on it. If they were scented they were not very strong.

I have ordered sheets from Amazon, several different brands, and they all work fine for our laundry, just the two of us, no outside or dirty work. Now I am using Arm and Hammer I found in one of the grocery stores. They work fine too. Not dryer sheets with leftovers for sewing. The wash sheets dissolve completely.

I just recently started looking into these. Glad to hear the Arm & Hammer brand works well. That's the pod detergent I currently use. The Earth Breeze brand apparently has perforated sheets. They say 1/2 sheet for regular size load and full sheet for large loads.

Going to look at more reviews.

I’ve used Earth Breeze sheets for the last year or so and love them. I need unscented products and Earth Breeze has both scented and unscented. I only use cold water for washing and they melt quickly leaving no residue. We own and work on a farm so we can have some grubby clothes and so far it’s gotten everything clean. Earth Breeze has other products as well but I haven’t used them as I don’t use fabric softener and have no dish washer.
