My take on the mystery. Just finished the quilting, now on to the binding. Different color way, I used a half yard bundle that I’ve had for a while. On point settings are not my friend so I did a straight set. This will be a late graduation gift for my great niece.

Nice finish! Thanks for sharing the picture. O really like seeing the color variations different people come up with.
I get sort of a sense of blue butterflies around yellow flowers.

Gemm, Bonnie Hunter uses the term 'neutral' when referring to background fabric. She has a very expansive idea of what can be used as background fabric. I think the term 'low volume' actually describes these fabrics better, meaning a small print where the ratio of background color to print is very high -- so, a widely spaced small print. Having seen countless photos of Bonnie Hunter mystery quilts, my conclusion is that if you use scrappy low volume prints (or, 'conspicuous neutrals'
) as your background, it looks similar from a distance to a quilt that has used a constant tonal neutral as a background, but close-up, the low volume background makes for a very busy, interesting quilt (which is not everyone's cup of tea but is definitely Bonnie's). Bonnie Hunter's mysteries are so buy anyway, that I think it's probably questionable whether using these fabrics I have in mind for background would amount to visual overload in a Bonnie mystery.

So thinking about the coming mystery, I've come up with a plan (if I can stick to it). I'll continue to work on my Indigo Way, but I'll choose fabric for the new mystery, and then plan to make about a dozen of each clue, so as to be acquainted with the techniques and pitfalls. It seems like that might satisfy my desire to be part of the fun and action.

I just finished a couple of UFOs and I'm back to working on my Indigo Way. So far I have 16 A blocks and 16 B blocks done. I thought I was running out of my red fabric so I bought more of it. Of course, after I got home from my LQS I did find that red fabric in another project box ............. lol ....... good thing I really like this red.
