I'm really hoping mine gets here before Dec1 so I can open it then as Dec 1 is when I fly east to NSW to my daughter's place to celebrate her 60th birthday and Christmas with her. My tree is up now so I can enjoy it for a while

@m-fay ’s comment reminded me of the year we were traveling the day after Christmas. We were leaving early December 26th for a two week trip to Japan. We had a live tree, and figured ok, it’ll be fine. It’ll go dry while we are gone and we’ll undecorate it when we get back.
Two weeks later (plus a couple days for travel recovery) and there we are being stabbed to death by our noble fir tree turned porcupine as we tried to recover our ornaments and lights. It’s mean and stabby and shedding needles everywhere, sometimes spraying them across the room dramatically as we rip the light string out a few feet at a time. It’s a funny memory now that we chuckle over almost a decade later but it was not funny at the time!

Wow! What a fun trip for you m-fay. My mom used to spend christmas with us every year. It was very fun to have her.
Quilting Panda... You certainly learned a hard lesson that year. Ouch!
I will just say never serve wine at a tree decorating party. OMG! What a total mess.
This year I started collecting Snow Babies. They are from an inspired artist in Alaska. Look them up, so dang cute.

Good morning.
I want to apologize as I have had a rough couple of weeks. I am really sorry about the delay in getting you all your ornament swap partners. All names are now out.
Have fun making and sending the ornaments. I will start mine tonight now that I have a partner.

Now that we have our names, let's share a little bit about ourselves. Probably should have thought of this earlier! Some times people don't fill out a profile listing likes etc.
I have 2 grown daughters, 5 grands. Married to my high school sweetheart.
I love homemade ornaments, although not a fan of gnomes. Being from North Carolina, I love cardinals (our state bird). My tree is always fresh cut and at least 6 ft. I love vintage feel and traditional Christmas although having three curious, lovable dachshunds, I am partial to anything dachshund too. Anything goes with me. I just love the fact that a secret friend took their time to make something for me. Let the fun begin!

Got my name and posting today. I've still got no idea what she'd really like so I hope she's going to be happy with what I've made for her. Guy Fawkes day today for those who still celebrate it. We don't here because of the risk of bush fires.

@hav4boys I hope all is ok! thank you so much for coordinating the swap.
I have no memory of how much detail I provided in my original info so I’ll follow @Nonnie4 ’s lead and share a bit more. We are a small family of two plus a dog (boxer) and cat (gray and white shorthair).
We have a fake prelit 6 foot tree we’ve had for maybe 7 years or so that’s covered in glitter and has pinecones and sprigs of red berries on it. This tree gets all the ornaments- no rhyme theme or reason. Childhood, handmade, all the stuff we love goes on here.
Every once in awhile we get a live tree f
and do more formal decorating on a color theme. We can hold a big one in our living room. Last year we had a 12 footer. It was a real bear to get tipped up, decorate from a ladder, etc. probably won’t do that again for a few years! I feel too young to be saying “I’m too old for this,” but it might apply here. We decorated it in red and gold.
We don’t decorate the house in any particular theme or color scheme. We aren’t particularly religious, so our decorating is on more secular themes.
I like all kinds of ornaments! Natural or flashy, big or small, bring it on. I think the most special and beautiful things are always what the maker enjoyed making and put love into.
