Hmmm.... I'm thinking I like this Red/Melon/Yellow combo better than my Green.
I will play with the blues a bit today, I have little bits of blue in a lot of my reds. But right now, I'm thinking of going off suggestions and keeping with the Yellow instead of any blue/aqua/green.

Iceblossom, I hope it’s ok for me to offer an opinion on this….
The aqua on the left of the first photo you posted adds some coolness to what is otherwise a very warm coloured quilt.
The golds are beautiful, and contrast very nicely from a hue perspective, but it’s a warm warm warm combination.
But whatever you choose, it will be beautiful. Just adding some food for thought to the mix. If this is not appropriate, just ignore me and delete the post!

Did I read the instructions correctly that we can choose ANY 3 colors as long as they play nicely with the neutrals? Yes, I realize that we can always decide on our own colors, as many have done in previous mysteries, but I thought I read we can choose our own this time around?
Thanks Iceblossom for hosting.

ILoveToQuilt, my take was that Bonnie didn't mean it any differently than usual. At that point, she usually points out that we don't have to use her palette, we can choose our own. This year it's pretty simpel. However, I did think it was a departure that she didn't mention value there. This year, as I see it, we have two mediums, while the red is darker. And yet Bonnie said later that the aqua had to contrast with everything, but that it shouldn't be too light so as to maintain contrast with the neutrals. Maybe that's why her aquas have so much white in them? I'm not going to get good contrast between my melons and aquas. Don't know what to think, but I don't intend to wory about it. For once I have Bonnie's colors in my stash so I'm not considering alternatives.

I always struggle with this part the most but think that I will go very controlled with all 3 colors being constants; my neutrals will be various tone on tones of white/light creams. This is my final choice...I think

That looks good to me Carol in WI. I pulled mostly yardage also. Before I have been using scraps and various cut pieces. I like the idea of making the white/neutrals scrappy. A constant color is always good.

I enjoy seeing everyone’s color selections.
So far I have 2 color ways pulled.
- One has very scrappy WW and CC background. (Or I could use for another scrappy project). Very scrappy batiks of purple, green and brown.
- The other colorway: batiks yardage stash and smaller scraps. This group of fabric has large scraps from a dragon quilt I made years ago. My larger piece scraps are batiks in blue, green or purple and 3 pieces of orange. I’m leaning towards this colorway and use the other scraps for another scrappy project. I will be pulling more fabrics having medium to dark fabrics in each color way. Again I will post final color selection closer to the 22nd. I figure 1 more week to play fabric selection and another to wash and iron the fabric. Then I’m ready for the 22nd.
Back to playing with scraps. 😊
