I'm going to jump into this year's mystery. Hello everyone!! It will be my fifth, with the last completed quilt being Rhododendron Trail. It's been just over two years since we made our big move from the northeast to the south and I "think" I may be able to participate. Even if I don't, I always having fun following along! I mostly depleted my stash of melon/coral fabric with On Ringo Lake. I have an okay amount of the teal, red and neutrals. Since the finished size of Old Town is square, I'll likely go a bit smaller, maybe at 3/4th size and use as a wall hanging. I "discovered" in my stash, a smaller-than-a fat-quarter piece that has a color combo that I like. Not sure where this piece fabric came from, but probably a fellow guild member's toss-away, LOL! Anyway, I think I like the gold in place of the melon. I'm attaching a photo of it with the color cards on top. Still playing around with what I have....and having fun! The goal this year is to really, really, really not buy any new fabric. I really mean it...really. ! When we moved, I gave away two full carloads of fabric. I didn't realize how much I had tucked here and there until it was time to pack it all up. Even if I don't keep up, I'm looking forward to this year's mystery and enjoying the journey with all of you!

Glad to have you join us Pinkflowers, I think your colors are great!
I've decided that the white on whites were too bright for my warm colors. Keep in mind, by fabric this project is about half "neutral". I did an initial pull of creams, I have more but have to get to that tote. I think the Civil War creams might be too dark am still playing with fabric. It is interesting to me how readily I can see the color differences, but when I take a Black and White, how quickly the butterscotch yellows fade out.
The first picture is the finalist colors plus the white on white.
Second picture is the same placement but with cream-beige.
Third is black and white of the cream pulls.

I have most of my totes labeled and "Beige-ish" was easily found. I found quite a few cream on cream neutrals that I didn't remember, not enough for all 6+ yards but I will have about half lightly patterned and half tone on tone.
So I'm in final form, can put away stuff and clean off my desk and do other things to make the upcoming project nicer and easier to work on. I've had such a delay with my vision issues that I'm still not organized after my move. Close but not quite where I want to be. Some of the things that have piled up on my sewing table are slightly problematic because they don't have a place yet (you know, a place for everything...).

Thank you to all who commented and encouraged on the fabric choice decisions I was struggling with....I've decided to make two smaller version of Old Town....one with Bonnie's original pallet except exchanging red for green and then with the 3 yardage prints. IceBlossom, Joe's Mom, Toverly and JeanieG I truly appreciate your insights and have loved the choices/finishes you have made in the past. I will be ready on Friday but will also have a house full of company (7 including 3 children) coming that day for the Thanksgiving week, so all sewing will be on hold until recovery is complete. Praying you all have a Blessed Thanksgiving.

I’ve pulled my fabric, wound my bobbins, put a new blade in the rotary cutter, followed the Facebook page, and………..
I’M SUDDENLY SO NERVOUS!!
What if I hate it?
What if it’s too hard?
What if it’s too much for me, and I never finish it?
Was this a big mistake? Should I just watch from the sidelines like I usually do?

LI diva, I remember how nervous I was for my first mystery (Grand Illusion). I had so many questions -- how would I know what fabric would work where, what about this rule and this rule and this rule, etc. People reassured me (JeanieG was one!) that it would all work out; but nothing could really have prepared me for how much fun it would all be. I haven't been able to skip a mystery since. So I would urge you to hold steady and take it one clue at a time. You'll be amazed at how everything has a way of working out. And to any of your questions, I would answer . . . so what? You really have nothing to lose, and a great quilt to gain from the process. (As I recall, Grand Illusion turned out to be one of the more 'controversial' mysteries ever; you could hear the whining half way around the world, and I certainly never had to ask again, 'What does Bonnie mean by, 'no whining?') And then she followed Grand Illusion with one of her patterns of greatest acclaim, 'Allietare.'
I'm getting excited for Friday, and so glad you are joining us, LI diva!

LI Diva, I'm also glad you have taken the plunge and are joining in for the mystery. There are so many experienced quilters on this site who will encourage you and answer all your questions. And it seems that there are several others joining the mystery this year for the first time, so they will also have some questions and concerns. You are in good company; don't hesitate to ask for help or clarification. I've done several of Bonnie's mysteries and always learn from this group.
