Belfrybat, I think your colors are yummy!!

I had some issues trying to sew with my vintage machine and my still not corrected eyes... Before the surgeries my goal/hope was to be able to cut each clue and I might have to go back to that. I will try setting up my portable machine today and see if that helps.

It was just the two of us for Thanksgiving, we did cook a turkey but no sides. I miss carbs We watched the Detroit Lions which is a hubby tradition. My general Thanksgiving wish for us all is that we are safe, warm. and doing something we want with someone we want to do stuff with.

I didn't quite finish clue #1, I still have one set to sew, press and trim (they are all cut). I guess I should see to that first, but it will be tempting to survey my reds and see what neutrals I want to pair them with. I love little 4-patches, and I really love Bonnie's method of doing them in short pre-matched strip sets!

I have composed and printed my Word document of the clue. That's a ritual that I always enjoy, re-sizing her photos and eliminating unnecessary text.

Iceblossom, I'm sorry you had issues that prevented you sewing!

Thank you Iceblossom and Joe's Mom. Iceblossom -- I'm sorry to hear of your eye problems. It must be so frustrating.
I had a quiet Thanksgiving (just me and the cat) so I sewed part 1, and this morning cut out the strips for part 2. It's around part 4 that I begin to get behind. And usually by the end am so far behind I rarely finish. But this year I am determined to keep up with at least half the units so I can finish. I might even take out Frolic and finish that one -- maybe a tablerunner? <smile>

LI Diver and NZqQuilter -- great looking geese! How did you post your images in thumbnails? I followed the directions to post the BB code and my pics came out full sized.

Good news! I am getting much better results with my portable machine, still at the edge of my vision abilities but doable.

The biggest problem I was having with the vintage machine is that last time I used it (a) it was in a different location in the room, and (b) I had it set up for zig zag and instead of putting the normal quilting foot and single hole plate in any reasonable place, I apparently put them in the dreaded "some where safe" that I can't remember. It's really hard for me to get my proper seam allowance with the zig zag plate. Also, threading by touch and my little "sparrow" needle threader was not easy.

So current goal is to get the Clue one geese sewn and pressed by Tuesday. At group I will trim the geese and cut my Clue 2 neutral and red strips. If I'm over-achieving, I'll have the strips cut and sewn and ready to trim into two-patches. For little four-patches like this I don't do any "cut large and trim down" I just try to get good cuts and seams.

Belfrybat, I've never had much luck posting the big images which I would prefer if I just had one picture.

I have an old school digital camera and reduce my file size before trying to post here and have them downloaded on my system. Then after typing my message I scroll down to the "go advanced" options.

Scroll down a little and Attach Files is the middle option under the bold heading of Additional Options.

Because of my various protections and such. I have to do a CTRL Click on the manage attachments button which takes me to a different window to actually upload my files. You have to scroll way out to the right to the load button.

Maybe Janey is monitoring this and will post her great easy posting instructions and helpful comments!

As normal I’m a week behind. This week I cut out part 1 and printed out part 2 directions. Then I calculated the number of strips I need from both fabrics. Tomorrow I will iron my dark blue fabric and cut out my strips. On the weekend I will alternate sewing part 1 and 2. This year I decided to just use 1 piece of fabrics for each color. So the process will be easier. I’m still debating if I want to enlarge the quilt to a king size to fit my bed or do a twin. I used the essential ruler to make it easier to make my little blocks. Oh well, happy sewing everyone.

Iceblossom, so glad you are getting better results with your portable!

I finished trimming up my last set of clue #1 tonight, My reds are pressed and I thought I might try pressing the neutrals for clue #2 before getting to bed.

Wow Joe'smom, your blocks look wonderful with all the colorful neutrals. You may be giving me courage to go out of my comfort zone and use more interesting neutrals. I've usually used just tone on tones or very muted designs.
My company left last evening so once the house is back in order I hope to start sewing. Love everyone's pictures.

Last of the company leaves later this morning. Then back to sewing (hopefully). I still need to trim clue 1, but I'll go ahead and prep the fabric for clue 2 today and hopefully cut the strips as well.
Love seeing everyone's progress and variety of hues and patterns. They all look so good!
