I made blocks for 3 different exchanges from my scraps, and I saved the triangles I cut off and added more scraps to make 3 more scrappy quilts (bear's paw quilts). I also made a scrappy square in a square quilt and have started a green scrappy quilt. And I haven't bought any fabric for any of them. I love Bonnies website but even before I found her, I had sorted and cut all my scraps into strips and squares. My resolution for the new year was to avoid buying any new fabric this year. I'm having fun shopping in my stash!

If you go to http://quiltville.com/stringquiltingprimer.shtml
she has very good directions for the string quilt pattern. I think some of my nicest quilts are scrap quilts.

Thank you for putting the website on here. I saved it so that I can try it at a later date.

I saw one the other day (of course I can't find it now) but each block had a black strip in the very center. When they were assembled it looked kind of like lattice. It was very pretty. Also, she did hers in large rectangles so the blacks formed large open diamonds.

Scrappy quilts are the best. Our Guild just had a program from Elizabeth Broussard on making fabric collages from scraps, and thus creating "new" and unique fabric for quilting. It was truly amazing. I, too have a very, very large stash of scraps, and plan on using them all.

I will email Liz, and see if she will give us permission to publish pictures of some of her quilts. They are truly spectacular.

What a great idea. I have so many fat quarters that I just had to have and are now sitting idle in my stash. Thanks for the inspiration.

this is my RIGIDLY organized scrappy completely from my stash. So far it's just a Lady in Waiting--pieced but not quilted.
It's California King size and took about 11 days to piece but lot's of hours in those days. The pattern is called "Sunset" although I call mine "Frames". A layout board was an absolute "must" for me on this one.
