My newest endeavor….

I decided my mom and I needed to invest in something that could bring us some enjoyment and stress relief, so I put all sorts of bird feeders up in the back yard in front of the dining room window and my mom and I have been blessed with all sorts of birds coming to visit. I’ve also put peanuts on the bird bath and we get an amazing show of about five blue jays that come to get peanuts. It has really brought my mom and I some great enjoyment looking at nature. Very therapeutic.

It's so much fun to feed the birds and animals. One of the things I enjoy is I have 18" plastic trays that go under plants, they love to take baths. Also, there are turtles that wander thru the baths and go thru each one. They sometimes stay a while. Not many ponds in our area.

My folks did that - it was great to watch the birds. Several had great personalities! You get to know them after a while. But my dad had to fix the feeder so the rats wouldn't get into it. You can't do anything about the seed on the ground the birds throw down, but the rats would take over the feeder. So my dad made posts that they couldn't climb.

You are a problem solver! Your mom, and you too, need calm moments and you discovered on way to bring that much needed serenity to you your day. Enjoy! Your squirrels and birds will be well nourished and happy to entertain you all winter long.

How nice and fun!
With my vision issues, I don't always get to see the birds but I could recognize many different songs once we moved.
I really recommend the (free and easy, no connection) Merlin app. Can go on a phone or I have on a tablet. Log in your area and point towards bird song and it will identify for you, plus show you pictures and other things like whether it is local or migratory.

I've also noticed this season just how fat our squirrels have gotten. Are they telling us to expect a very cold, wintery winter? Love watching all the critters outside as they run across the trees and yards. I have sunflower seeds and bird seed out for them all especially during the winter time when it's harder to find anything to eat.
