Default Aby posted preliminary instructions - her quilt is lovely!

I'm even more excited now that Aby has posted a picture of her quilt a long with some preliminary instructions.

Isn't her quilt lovely? I love the blocks, they're 15" each and she is not using any curved piecing or applique which is a relief.

She is asking folks who are participating in the BOM to comment "Yes" on her blog post. And email her pictures of your selected colors:[email protected].

    This will be fun!

(PS did anyone notice that her blog now features her new quilt in the header!)

I am seriously thinking of joining in. In mulling over the idea, I realized that one thing I really like is that she is showing what ALL the blocks look like at the start, rather than leaving one wondering what will be coming along later on. I look at the blocks and really like most of them, and know I can easily find an appropriate substitute if one doesn't quite grab me. (I am not a mystery quilt person; I like to plan and imagine the final quilt from the start.)

I finally decided on controlled scrappy, I'm going to make a shades of blue quilt, I have 2 bins of blues that I need to reduce, but not sure what to use for the sashing and first border. I will post a pic of what I will use as the final border. I plan on using the coloring page to do some test samples. Is anyone else using the coloring pages?

Here's the link for the first two blocks: https://abyquilts.wordpress.com/optimism-2025-bom/
It will be a few days until I start on mine.

I think I have my fabric pulled for the first one, but it will be a few days until I can cut out the blocks. I decided on black sashing but scrappy WOW for the background fabric.

I’m planning to shop my stash for this one. I have 3 yds of a darker cream/beige for the background. After going round and round on colors, I’ve decided to choose colors similar to Arby’s whenever I can. She’s done the hard work. I really like the larger size of the blocks this year.

Are you using the colors shown on her block instructions or the colors she used on her sample final quilt?

I love the colors on the instructions for the "Sunny Day" and "Looking Forward" block instructions. As a new quilter (with a limited stash) I will attempt to mimic them.

I pulled my fabrics based on the original computer generated design. I like the earth tones she used in her actual quilt, but will probably just stick with what I've already pulled.
