I was planning to put together my own sampler this year, but I have a BOM kit I am opting to do instead. I got this Rustling Leaves BOM set from a second hand resaler for $25 - I think this was at JoAnns in 2011. It includes enough blocks to make the quilt (although some are duplicated and others missing, so I will re-design) and the setting kit.

My goal is 1 block kit per month. I’d be thrilled to get the top done by EOY.

I have three baby quilts to make and then I am off to make the Snowman quilt by Lori Holt. I got all my fabrics in the mail today and I am itching to get to it. There is a group that is making it together this year, but I don't like being under someone's time frame. To me it is much more fun to play around and make it at my own speed.
I also have vowed to finish some of my ufo's this year. They range from full quilts to wall hangings. I kind of got burned out for a while and now I am determined to get some of these finished. I have found battings and backings for about half of them, so that helps.
One or two of the need to finish projects is block swaps here on the board. I really want to get them set and quilted.
I would say I have my work cut out for me. Right?
I love that you started this thread for us loners who are not on the same quilts. It will make it fun to see the different quilts being made.
So thanks. I will be updating my progress as I go.

Welcome. That's a lovely quilt, and I love the colour scheme.

I had planned on getting the Happy Hour January block done this week, but the Bonnie Hunter mystery is a lot more detailed than I planned. So I'm going to work on that and then Friday make the first Happy Hour block. I've never participated in a monthly BOM before and here I am in two. Optimism by Aby Quilts is the second but it has it's own thead.

Wow, it looks lovely! But it looks like it will mean working with quite small pieces. Ignoring the borders, the quilt top is 19 blocks wide. With a 90" width, that means each block is only 5" square. With the first block, the block has a 4x4 grid, so the blue squares will need to be cut at 1.75" to finish at 1.25" in the block. Some people do not enjoy working with small pieces or dealing with fractions while cutting - are you one of those people?
The good news is that all blocks have either a 4x4 grid or a 5x5 grid, so you don't get the truly awful fractions that a 3x3 or 6x6 grid would introduce with 5" blocks.

Is anyone doing the Sherri McConnell A Quilting Life BOM?

I did it in 2023 and 2024, but decided to sit it out this year.
Now that I’ve seen January’s block, and I see all the blocks will be bordered by a log cabin, I’m intrigued!

    Wondering what you guys think.

It's in my planner to do - but I have not done anything other than print off this month's pattern. Still working away at Old Town Mystery from Bonnie Hunter. I really need some days at home to sew. I'm retired, but have too many commitments. I have nothing on my calendar for next week except breakfast with a friend. Can't wait!
