I spent yesterday doing the quilting on a piece that is primarily stash but the back was what I purchsed earlier this week. I am still in a Yay! mode. Picture when I get the binding on .... fingers crossed that will be later today or tomorrow.

I would not want any one to be too concerned about the exact amount of yardage that leaves the stash. It doesn't matter if you use "guesstimating" or use the width x length divided by 1440, a good general purpose calculation method. If you know you used more because of small pieces and lots of seams, then rest assured that we won't be passing judgement on the total that left your stash. We will be cheering for you and your success.

I know my February monthly "out the door" totals will be low because the two finishes that I took to the long armer won't be back until March. Rats, I had planned on them for February. Oh well, watch our March. Here I come! Any way out of the stash is.... out of the stash don't, ya know.

So far no fabric added to my stash this month but no stash out the door either. I was at my LQS yesterday and the only things that followed me home were 2 new cutting mats ............ considering that a win!

I still say if we quit buying from our quilt stores they will go out of business

Sync, that is a marvelous win. In order to use our stash we need to have a good place to cut it. Right? Yeah!

Newbee3, we are not forbidding purchasing fabric rather we are choosing to shop our stash first. Fabric sitting unused is not fabric blessing or warming others. A blend of stash use and purchase what is needed is success for both quilters and quilt businesses.

Another exemption: mental therapy. Went on road trip with friend with broken wrist. She's getting depressed. We needed mental therapy. And I always want to support LQS if there's something I want/need.
Planning a scrappy and NEEDED fabric. My scrap drawer needed a refill. What other excuse can I think of>>>>>>>

WMU Teach: Thanks for the way to estimate yardage in quilts. I do a lot ( and I mean a lot!) of scrap quilts and some are sold just to continue to support my sewing habit. To have an idea of how many yards of fabric in a quilt can help with pricing.
I broke moratorium yesterday because I've run out of white which I use a fair amount. To get free shipping, you had to have a certain amount in your cart and yes, I broke down and got a layer cake of batiks which I will mix in with my stash for yet another scrappy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I have fabric yardage in my stash that I've been saving for the "right" project. It's been at least 10 years waiting for that project. I think it's time to just use it for a backing and give it a home. If I have enough I have a quilt that could use a pretty backing so off I go to measure. Keeping my fingers crossed I have enough.

Here is my latest finish. A chemo quilt for a friend of my granddaughter.

The stars are all from stash and are mostly scraps from a previous quilt. The back ground and backing were new purchases that I picked up in the last 10 days. The quilt is now winging its way to West Lafayette, Indiana.

From the small photo it almost looks like those stars are spinning! I am sure it will bring some comfort to your granddaughters friend.

In fabric out, I checked on Missing Fabrics and will be able to connect someone with yardage of something they want. It had been awhile since I checked that out.

And while looking for that, I found some other things including a green stripe that I had been going crazy looking for back in October/November and gave up. It was there... hiding.. but it was there. Along with some other things I wish I had found back then... but which I didn't buy to replace, I just used some fabrics in the Bonnie Hunter project that I would have gladly put these into instead. Oh well, the fabric actually gets more and more organized all the time.
